All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, popularly known as AIIMS, is a group of autonomous public medical colleges in India that strives to impart top quality medical education to the numerous aspirants from all over the country.

AIIMS colleges in India are regarded as the primary and the best medical institutes in the country and are a dream of every medical aspirant. AIIMS colleges have been bestowed the tag of the ‘Institutes of National Importance’ by an Act of Parliament.

At present, there are 15 AIIMS colleges in India that grant admission to MBBS courses offered by them through the AIIMS MBBS entrance exam. AIIMS MBBS 2018 exam was conducted on 25h May and 26th May 2019 in an online or computer-based mode. Thousands of candidates apply for the AIIMS MBBS exam every year to live their dream of studying at AIIMS colleges in India of their choice. However, it requires a lot of preparation and guidance to crack the AIIMS exam since the AIIMS MBBS syllabus is very vast and requires a lot of determination and patience to prepare effectively.

Upcoming AIIMS Colleges in India

Apart from the current fifteen existing AIIMS Colleges in India, the government is also planning to set up 6 new AIIMS institutes in the country as listed below:

  • AIIMS Tamil Nadu
  • AIIMS Gujarat
  • AIIMS Vijay Pur – Jammu Region
  • AIIMS Awantipora – Kashmir Region
  • AIIMS Himachal Prades
  • AIIMS Changsari – Assam

Furthermore, the Union Cabinet has approved a proposal to set up 20 new AIIMS colleges soon.

The main agenda of the government behind setting up new branches of AIIMS colleges is to create a balanced doctor-patient ratio by the year 2021. The government is also working relentlessly towards increasing the number of MBBS seats and PG seats in these colleges in order to reduce the shortage of doctors and to improve the quality of healthcare in the country.

AIIMS MBBS 2019 SEAT MATRIX

In India total 15 AIIMS  offering MBBS Course and in all 15 AIIMS total 1207 MBBS Seats available  as on June 2019

AIIMS, New Delhi

  • The 100 (Hundred) seats for Indian Nationals and 7 (Seven) seats for (Foreign Nationals) are available for admission to MBBS course. Out of these, 15 (fifteen) seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes, 8 (eight) seats are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes, 27 (twenty Seven) seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes and 50 (fifty) seats for General Category for Indian Nationals. A 5% reservation for Person with Benchmark Disability (PWBD) as per provision of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 shall be provided on horizontal basis, amongst the seats available subject to evaluation by the Medical Board of the Institute.

 

Fourteen other AIIMS

  • In the eight AIIMS (viz: Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur,Rishikesh, Mangalagiri and Nagpur) with intake of 100 students each and 50 students each in six new AIIMS Bathinda, Gorakhpur, Kalyani, Rae Bareli, Deogarh & Telangana with reservation policy followed by 7.5% ST, 15% SC and 27% OBC, for Indian Nationals. A 5% reservation for Person with Benchmark Disability (PWBD) as per provision of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 shall be provided on horizontal basis, in the seats available. Subjected to Medical fitness by Medical board of the Institute.

AIIMS MBBS Cutoff 2019 

AIIMS, New Delhi realesed the AIIMS MBBS 2019 cutoff  on 12th June  along with the release of the result. The cutoff of AIIMS MBBS 2019 is the minimum required percentage which needs to be scored in order to qualify for the exam. AIIMS MBBS cut off 2019 for different categories will be different. The AIIMS MBBS cut off 2019 will be only online. Important note that all the candidates who will secure the qualifying percentile will not be eligible to participate in the Counseling process except for the open round of AIIMS MBBS Counseling  2019. AIIMS MBBS cutoff 2019 is only indicative of qualification and candidates scoring qualifying percentage will not necessarily be included in the merit list. In order to be included in the merit list candidates will be required to secure a different AIIMS MBBS cut off which will be stipulated in terms of percentile. Candidates can check here the details pertaining to AIIMS MBBS 2019 cutoff in terms of qualifying percentage.

As per AIIMS MBBS cutoff 2019, candidates belonging to General category will be required to score at least 50% marks in AIIMS MBBS entrance exam, while those belonging to OBC category need to score at least 45% and SC/ST candidates will be required to score at least 40% in order to qualify the exam.

AIIMS MBBS Cutoff 2019 – Tiebreaking Criteria

The merit list of AIIMS MBBS 2019 will be based on the percentile scores of the total raw scores. In case two or more candidates score the same percentile then the method for breaking the tie to allot the All India Rank will be-

  • Percentile in Biology – First of all candidates’ percentiles in the Biology section in AIIMS MBBS 2019 entrance exam will be considered to break the tie. Candidate with higher percentile score in Biology will be given preference and will be placed higher in order of the merit list.
  • Percentile in Chemistry – If the tie still resists, then the percentile score in Chemistry section will be considered. Candidate with higher percentile in Chemistry will be given preference over the others.
  • Percentile in Physics – If the above two criteria fail, then candidates’ percentile in the Physics section will be taken into account. Candidates with higher percentile in Physics will be given the higher ranking.
  • Age – If all of the above criteria fails, then the age of the candidate will be taken into consideration. Candidate senior in age will be placed higher in the order of merit.
